Position Overview

McWill Logistics is seeking a motivated, experienced Independent Freight Broker Agent to develop customer relationships and manage freight from initial quote through final delivery.

This is a remote, commission-based independent contractor opportunity. The ideal candidate is self-directed, experienced in freight sales and operations, and capable of developing a profitable book of business.

Compensation

  • 50% of collected gross profit on qualified freight generated and managed by the agent
  • No cap on commission earnings
  • Additional terms may be considered for an agent bringing an established, transferable book of business

Responsibilities

  • Prospect for and develop new shipper and customer accounts
  • Build and maintain professional customer relationships
  • Identify freight opportunities and obtain shipment details
  • Prepare competitive and profitable customer quotes
  • Source, negotiate with, and coordinate qualified motor carriers
  • Verify that carriers meet McWill Logistics' onboarding, insurance, authority, and safety requirements
  • Manage loads from pickup through final delivery
  • Track shipments and provide timely customer updates
  • Resolve routine service issues, delays, and documentation concerns
  • Collect and submit rate confirmations, bills of lading, proof of delivery, and other required documents
  • Maintain accurate records of customer activity, quoted rates, carrier costs, and load status
  • Protect confidential customer, carrier, pricing, and company information
  • Follow McWill Logistics' credit, compliance, margin, and operating requirements

Qualifications

  • Previous freight brokerage, logistics sales, carrier sales, or transportation experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to prospect, negotiate, and close business
  • Understanding of freight rates, lanes, capacity, and carrier qualification
  • Experience managing shipments from booking through delivery
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organization, follow-up, and problem-solving abilities
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
  • Reliable computer, telephone, and internet access
  • Existing shipper relationships or a transferable book of business are highly desirable
  • Must conduct business ethically and professionally
